UNITED STATES NUCLEAR ?EGULATORY CCMMISSION C0CKET NO. 50-155 CCNSUMERS 0WER COMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENCMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 36 to Facility Operating License No. CPR-6, issued to Consumers Power Ccmpany (the licensee), wnich revised the Technical Specifications #or operation of the Big Rock Point Plant (the facility) located in Charlevoix County, Michigan. The amendment is effective as of its date of issuance.

The amendment (1) removes the restrictions on allowable locations fo r auxiliary neutron sources, and (2) modifies the physical descrip-tion of the auxiliary neutron sources to allow the sources to be placed in the center of a fuel assembly rather than in the corner location previously used.

The application for the amendment complies with the standards and requirements cf the Atcmic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's c'J1es and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment. Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.

The Ccmmission has deter-1ined that the issuance of this amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 551.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative deci sration and environmental impact appraisal need not be precared in connection with issuance of this amendment.
