.O APPENDIX A fl0TICE OF VIOLATION University of California, Irvine Docket No. 50-326 As a result of an investigation conducted on October 29-30, 1980 and in accordance with the Interin Enforcement Policy 45 FR 66754 (October 7,1980), the following violation was identified.
1.
10 CFR 19.12 specifically identifies topics for which all individuals shall receive instructions when working in or frequenting any portion of a restricted area. The extent of the instructions shall be consensurate with potential radiological health protection problems in the restricted area.
Contrary to the above, two employees from the Facility Management Department had not been instructed in any of the topics identified in 10 CFR 19.12 prior to working in the restricted areas of the Triga t' ark I reactor facility on August 25,1980.
Furthermore, no formal method existed for ensuring workers are instructed pursuant to 10 CFR 19.12 requirements.
This is a Severity Level V violation, (Supplement V).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, University of California, Irvine is hereoy required to submit to this office within 25 days of the date of this tiotice, a written stateit.ent or explanation in reply, including: (1)The corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further items of noncompliance; and (3) the date when full cc:mliance will be achieved. Under the authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, this response shall be submitted uncer oath or affirmation.
