Dear Governor Grasso:
This is in response to your November 25, 1980 request to consider an application from Mr. Kevin McCarthy to attend the NRC sponsored 10-week cc.urse in Health Physics and Radiation Protection.
I am pleased to inform you that Mr. McCarthy has been accepted for the course and we will pay Mr. McCarthy's travel and per diem costs.
Our Office of State Programs will contact him for travel arrangements and other details.
I was also pleased to learn of Connecticut's interest in becoming an Agreement State.
I have asked ar. Wayne Kerr, Director of our Office of State Programs to arrange a meeting with your staff to discuss this possibility.
Twenty-six States have entered into agreements with NRC and have assumed authority over certain uses of byproduct, source and special nuclear material.
The program is, I believe, an exemplary one with respect to Federal-State cooperation and we look forward to working with Connecticut.
