Discussion On August 11,1980, I met with Mr. J. Roth'at his office at King of Prussia, DennsyMania. Mr. Roth is the NRC inspector for Columbia University. His coments on Columbia University's renewal application were discussed in the meeting (see attached for a report of the discussion).
On August 13, 1980, I went to Columbia University, New York City, anS met with Mr. Philip Lorio, health physics officer for Columbia University.
Mr. Lorio showed me through the area where -the licensed materials are being used and stored; he explained in detail the radiation safety control proce-dure for the use of the materials,,in each area. The areas I visited were
. the material receiving and storage areas, health physics counting laboratories and the nuclear engineering department where Pu-Be sources are used. That afternoon I met with Mr. Lorio again to discuss Columbia University's i
renewal application dated March 7,197.8. Mi. Lorio indicated that he has recently located 286 grams of uranium-235 and 17.023 kg of thorium in some i
