Dear Mr. Ippolito:
This let.ter is to provide NRC with an update concerning scheduling of Mark I Containment Program modifications for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) plans to complete all Mark I modifications on both Brunswick units by July, 1982. This includes T-quenchers, vent header deflectors, and all modifications that have been identified from the completed portions of our Plant Unique Analysis (PUA).
It should be noted that, for Brunswick Unit 2, the T-quenchers and vent header deflectors were installed in 1980.
General Electric's schedule for providing some of the data te be used as input for the Plant Unique Analysis has recently experienced a three month slippage. This slippage will delay completion of a portion of the PUA.
If other modifications are identified as a result of the completion of the PUA, then comple-tion of these PUA modifications may be delayed beyond our July, 1982 schedule.
Should it become necessary to revise our Mark I Program completion schedule, we will notify you promptly.
