Dear Mr. Keppler:
FINAL 10CFR50.55(e) REPORT INDUSTRIAL MECHANICS, INC. - ANCHOR BOLTS AND NUTS CALLAWAY UNIT 1 On Friday, June 20, 1980; we provided Mr. H. M. Wescott verbal notification of a 10CFR50.55(e) report regarding out of tolerance conditions on major bolt diameters and minor nut diameters for material supplied by Industrial Mechanics, Inc.
' In our letter ULNRC-366, dated July 18, 1980 we requested that the submittal date of our final report on this matter be extended to December 1, 1980.
In our letter ULNRC-401, dated November 28, 1980 we
' requested that the submittal date of our final report be extended to January 9, 1981 due to the field inspection program and evaluation of data having taken longer than estimated.
The analysis of data"from the field inspection program has been completed by our A/E, Bechtel and has been submitted to us in a report.
The report indicates that of the nuts and bolts checked, not a single anchor (nut-bolt combination) was found for which the predicted fa~ilure mode is in the threads.
This results in no predicted reduction in design' capacity.
We have concluded that'had the out-of-tolerance nuts and bolts remained undetected there would have been no impact on the health and safety of the public and we no longer consider this matter significant.
