Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Shift Technical Advisor Program This letter is to inform you of anticipated changes in the Shift Technical Advisor (STA) program which was originally described in our April 10, 1980 letter.
As a result of qualification examinations administered in December,1980, the present STA complement consists of the j
following three categories:
- 1. Qualified
- 2. Not fully qualified, requiring minimal additional training or control room familiarization
- 3. Not fully qualified, requiring significant additional training or control room familiarization At this time, we anticipate that category 2 STAS will complete remedial studies and be qualified prior to standing watch in 1981. However, should some individuals not fully qualify by their scheduled duty day, we will supplement their capabilities by on call qualified individuals who possess an engineering or science degree and an SRO license for the Oyster Creek Nuclear l
Generating Station. Category 3 STAS shall not stand watch intil they advance to category 1 or 2.
In addition, any weakness in our training program made of evident by the results of qualification examinations shall be 5
supplemented by the requalification program which will begin in January, 1981.
