Mr. Paul F. Collins, Chief Docket No. 50-339 Operator Licensing Branch License No. NPF-7 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. Denton:

Due to the extensive Unit No. 2 startup test program, several unit outages, and training and operator licensing requirements with respect to TMI related requirements and Unit No. 2 licensing, four (4) licensed reactor operators will not complete the annual written examination by the end of the calendar year 1980 as stated in the Vepco Licensed Operator Requalification Program at North Anna Power Station.

The program permits lectures and associated quizzes to be rescheduled around such infrequent operations, but does not specifically state this for armual written examinations.

We have established a detailed schedule which will allow four (4) licensed operators to complete the examination prior to March 31, 1981 which is within the +25% of the normal time allotted.

All four (4) operators are licensed on Unit No. 1 only, which will be in a refueling mode the majority of this period.

Very truly yours, B. R. Sy via Manager-Nuclear Operations and Maintenance t
