TRIP REPORT: EMERGENCY PLANNING MEETING FOR PRAIRIE ISLAND AND MONTICELLO NUCLEAR PLANTS On November 12, 1980, we conducted a meeting with Northern States Power (NSP) staff to discuss current reviews of the draft Emergency Plans for Monticello and Prairie Island. Attached is a list of participants.
In general, the meeting went smoothly.
Each problem area identified in the plans was discussed in detail. The licensee indicated that revised Emergency Plans would be submitted to NRC in accordance with the provisions set forth in the new rule,10 CFR 50.47. A discussion of the new rule and its implementation schedule was also discussed.
We believe this meeting was useful for the licensee. As we have indicated, NSP's draft Emergency Plans for Monticello and Prairie Island were generally weak and nonspecific. Their plans need extensive upgrading in order to meet the planning objectives of 10 CFR 50.47. This was conveyed to the licensee.
