Dear Mr. Keppler:
On July 7, 1980, Mr. C. E. Chmielewski of Public Service Company I
of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable I
item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). A review of Westinghouse j
quality verification packages performed under SPP-7 had indicated 46 nonconu rmances out of a sample size of 49 document packages.
l Since that time acceptable dispositions have been obtained on all 46 nonconfc rmances previously identified. Examining these dispositions i
the following conclusions can be drawn.
a.
The nonconfc mances generated reflect differences in the Westinghouse and PSI Quality Assurance Programs as opposed to a deficies.cy in either.
b.
Westinghouse is contractually PSI's lifetime retention of Westinghouse NSSS records. Future reviews will be limited to those records which are necessary to verify compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Assurance Program.
c.
The Westinghouse Quality Assurance Records Management Program has provided PSI with the necessary confidence level by retrieving from within their system the supportive documentation and/or an acceptable justification or resolution of noted deficiencies.
