Dear Mr. Denton:
MULTIPLE STRUCTURE ARS CONCERN
, NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 In our letter Serial No. 872 dated October 28, 1980, we provided a prioritiza-tion of the Category "B" items included in Phase II of the Multiple Structure ARS Evaluation.
The referenced letter indicated that a revised schedule for this work would be provided by separate letter. The purpose of this letter is
}
to provide that schedule.
Attachment I to this letter gives the schedule by priority group.
These groups are as outlined in our letter Serial No. 872.
The dates given are the range for completion of stress analysis of the stress problems within each group.
The following additional data or assumptions form the basis for these dates.
1.
Pipe support and S&W equipment review will take about 2 weeks beyond the dates given.
2.
All analysis will be done using either the S&W or CDC NUPIPE program except for some Class I piping for which a SHOCK III envelope verifi-cation may be used prior to recoding to NUPIPE (if necessary).
3.
All analysis will be in full documentation format. This documenta-tion would be required if any results were used for redesign.
4.
All analysis will consider both OBE and PSE conditions.
5.
For groups 1 through 5, the Unit I and ' effort will be integrated.
For the remainder of the groups, the Unit 2 effort will be completed prior to beginning the Unit 1 effort. This is based on the !!rensing commitment for Unit 2 which requires completion of the ARS Evaluation on Unit No. 2 by February 21, 1981.

monts Eucnic amp lbwen Conor To Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director +
6.
Completion of vendor equipment review is not included in the schedule.
7.
Support modifications to meet OBE allowables are not included in the attached schedule.
8.
The OBE allowables will be met using normal analytical procedure, including multiple ARS input.
The completion dates given in the attachment represent ' an extension of the
~
schedule for completion of the entire Phase II ef fort from the target date of December 31, 1980 given in our letter Serial No. 649 dated July 25, 1980.
The original estimate was made prior to completion of any of the proposed reanalyses; experience now indicates that the required scope of analysis and documentation is more extensive than originally anticipated. We believe that the proposed schedule is acceptable since all systems required for accident mitigation (Groups 1-5) will be completed by January 31, 1980.
However, we are making every effort to improve the current schedule and we will keep you informed on the progress of this review.
If you have any question or require additional information, please contact us.
Very truly yours, 1
