Thir. is in response to your request of January 8,1980, to terminate Special Nuc' ear Material License Number SNM-1677.

Enclosed is a copy of NRC's

" Guidelines for Decontamination of Facliities and Equipment Prior to Release For Unrestricted Use or Termination of Licenses For Byproduct, Source or Special Nuclear Material." These " Guidelines" describe the procedures to be followed and infonnation required prior to termination of a Special Nuclear Material License. After you have provided the Commission with a radiation survey of your facilities, as described in these guidelines, NRC's Office of Inspection and Enforcement will visit your facility and perform a confirmatory survey.

If this survey confirms that contamination levels are below those specified in Table I of the Commission's Guidelines, SNM-1677 will be terminated and your facilities will be released for unrestricted use.
