This refers to the inspection of your Dresden 1 famility condmated on

August 7-8, 1974, by Massrs. Finley and Patterson of this office sad to

the discussion of our ftadings with Mr. B. B. Stephenson, Superintendent,

Dresden Station and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the

inspection. Tour sativities pursuant to Title 10, Code of Federal

Regulations, Part 70, "Special N=elaae Material," as they pertain to

License Me. DPR-2, were th subjoet of the inspection.

This material safeguards inspecties consisted of a physical inventory,

====i== tion of accountability procedures, review of special anelane

material control records, material transaatias forme, material status

reports, depletion and production calculations, interviews with facility

-1, and observations by the faspectors. The records audit was

candmated for the period July 1, 1973 through August 8, 1974.

No violations of AEC requirements were identified within the scope of

this inspection.

rertmirements are listed in the emelosure to this letter. Corrective

action was initiated for these - h=== - during the inspection.

Consequently, no reply is required on these two matters.

Ameistant Superintendents at each helame generating station shall

be damignated in writing by the President of the Company as " Authorized

Individuals" having the responsibility for surv=411anea of amelaar

meterial under their operating reopensibility and for implementing

the required ===*1ame meterials safeguards and control procedures."

Contrary to the above, the present superintendent and assistant

superintendent were not designated in wrf. ting by the President of

the Campesy as authorized individuals at the Dresden 1 Parility.

NP 3 - Page 2, Item A7 states that the Nn,1aar Meterial Custodian

or his designee will " Update Nuclear Puel Location and Exposure

Record, Form E, as required, for eseh fuel assembly moved."

Contrary to the above, Nue1=ar Puel Location and Exposure Record

Form E was not updated to refleet the location of fuel assemblies

moved during the last outage October 9, 1973 - July 2, 1974.
