Subject:

CRYSTAL RIVER NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 3 AND 4 This memorandum is to confirm our discussion regarding information requested l

by the ACRS and Subcommittee Chairmen for consideration at the 97th ACRS meeting.

I i

1) Are all of the applicants proposed alternatives (types of steel, size and shape of tendons, type of anchors) acceptable?

Consideration should include: (a) seismic effect, (b) corrosion, -

(c) surveillance, (d) frequency of surveillance.

l

2) ilhat criteria thould be met with regards to the capability to accept simultaneous dynamic failure of adjacent tendons? How many?

)

3) Are the applicants plans to request bids for the several I

alternatives acceptable?. Are any controls, criteria or checks needed?

i In addition to the above, how does the Three Mile Island project relate to these questions where the questions are appropriate?

It would be helpful if a brief Staff Report on these questions could be available at the beginning of the May ACRS meeting.
