Proposed nuclear power plants within a 250_ mile radius of Jacksonville are as follows: St..Lucie Plant, Units 1 and 2, St. Lucie County, Florida; Crystal River Unit 3, Citrus County, Florida; Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, Baxley, Georgia; Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, Unita 1 and 2, Dothan, Alabama; Alvin W. Vogtle, U its 1, 2, 3 and 4, n

Waynesboro, Georgia.

I am enclosing for your information a copy of an Atomic Energy Commission News Release which shows the nuclear ' power reactors operable, being built, or planned in the United States as of December 31, 1972.

As applications for licenses to construct and operate nuclear power plants are accepted for review by the AEC, we notify the official of the State in which the proposed plant is to be located, place advertisements in some local newspapers, and publish a notice in the FEDERAL REGISTER. The State Official contacts for the plants mentioned above are as follows:

,p We are not aware of any announcement by the Jacksonville Electric Authority to build a nuclear power plant in Jacksonville. If the utility proceeds with plans to build a plant, it must apply to the Atomic Energy Commission for a construction permit and operating licence.

If, and when such an application is received and accepJed, Mr. Patton's office will be notified.
