Dear Dr. Morris:

This letter supplements my letters of October 18, 1971 and October 29, 1971 which submitted the following documents in support of Duke Power Company's Application for Licenses for the Oconee Nuclear Station which is under construction pursuant to provisional construction permits CPPR-33, -34, and -35 issued by the Commission on November 6, 1967:

1.

Supplement to Environmental Quality Features of Keovee-Toxaway Project (Supplemental Environmental Report), October, 1971.

2.

Request for the Issuance of an Operating License Authorizing Limited Power Operations, Unit No. 1, Docket No. 50-269.

3.

Statement by the Applicant Why the Construction Permits Should Not Be Suspended, Units 2 and 3, Docket Nos. 50-270, 50-287.

The following table provides additional information verbally requested by the Division of Reactor Licensing staff in regard to costs of the station construction through October, 1971; costs of job shutdown for the next six months for both Oconee and its associated transmission lines; and predicted expenditures for the next six months for both Oconee construction and trans-mission line construction.

$328,916,428 through October 31, 1971.

Estimated cost of job shutdown for Oconee

$ 48,193,000 Units 2 and 3 including demobilization, personnel lay-off, caretaker operation, remobilization with additional two month delay, additional escalation, interest, and hypothetics.1 purchased power since adequate power may not be available.

Predicted expenditures for the next six months

$ 14,441,000 for transmission lines including construction, land acquisition, and land clearing.

Estimated additional cost of job with six month shut-

$ 6,768,300 down for transmission lines with no attempt to make up lost time.

Estimated additional cost of six month job shutdown

$ 13,736,000 for transmission lines with corresponding make up of time.
