CCT 11 572 NOTE TO FILE TELECON WITH DUKE POWER COMPANY AND B&W, OCTOBER 4, 1972 In a conference call between A. Schwencer. I. Peltier, and K. Canady, Duke and G. Kulynych, Straube, R. Steinke, (B&W), Loke and B&*4 inquired about the status of our position with regard to the fuel densification issue.

They were told that pressurizing all Oconee 1 fuel appears to be a step in the direction of helping to minimize the problem but that the question is still up in the air regarding pressurized fuel.

We feel that resolution of this issue will not be a factor affecting the ACRS schedule but licensing for full power could be affected.

We enumerated the remaining outstanding issues which could come up at the ACRS meeting and pointed out that an ACRS subcommittee (unnamed) would want to visit the site before the ACRS meeting.

The 8th of November is the target date for reinstalling the Oconee 1 internals.

Work may be running a couple of days behind this schedule.

1 The steam generator work is essentially complete. Gas leak tests have been performed and hydro testing is underway.

Unit 2 work is running about two weeks behind Unit 1.
