SU WARY OF THE OCTOBER 7-10,1980 CASELOAD FORECAST PANEL MEETINGS.
The Caseload Forecast Panel met with the applicants for the Callaway and Wolf Creek Plants during the week of October 7-10, W80. The following activitics were completed during the week:
(1) Kansas Gas and Electric Company presented the information requested in the NRC letter of August 29,1980 (attached); (2) The Wolf Creek site was visited by the panel:
(3) Union Electric presented the information requested in the NRC letter of August 29, 1980 (attached); (4) The Callaway site was visited by the panel, and; (5) The NRC panel presented their conclusions and forecasted the construction completion dates to the applicants in a combined exit interview.
The panel found the Callaway plant to be 72.5% constructed. The earliest NRC forecasted fuel loid date is February 1983. Major factors which affected the panels decision were the installation status of the small bore piping, the amount of cable installed and the number of cables terminated.
The panel found the Wolf Creek plcnt to be 66.3% constructed.
The earliest NRC forecasted fuel load date is December 1983. Major factors which affected the panels decision were the large and small bore piping status; the amount of electrical equipment installed; and the conduit, cable and terminations status.
The NRC plans to return to the Wolf Creek and Callaway plants late next year to review the progress of construction and to reassess the forecasted fuel load dates.
