DOdKET NO. 50-29 HAZARDS ANALYSIS BY -THE RESEARCH AND POWER REACTOR SAFETY BRANCH DIVISION OF LICENSING AND REGULATION IN THE MATTER OF YANKEE ATOMIC ELECTRIC COMPANY PROPOSED CHANGE NO. 2
=
Pursuant to the provision of paragraph 3. A. of License No. DPR-3, as amended, Yankee Atomic Electric Company in Proposed Change No. 2, dated February 14, 1961, requested authorization to make a modifi-

cation in facility design. This modification consists of changing

the sequence of motor operated valve CH-MOV-525 and manually oper-ated valve #14, both of which are located in series in the line from the number 1 primary loop to the feed and bleed heat exchanger. This change would place valve #14 on the pressurized side of the motor operated valve and make maintenance of the motor operated valve more convenient by allowing it to be isolated from the pressurized primary system by means of the hand operated valve.
Upon review of this proposed modification, we have concluded that it should result in a minor improvement in operational safety and that it does not present significant hazards considerations not described or implicit in the license application as amended through January 12, 1961. We have further concluded that there is reasonable assurance that the health and safety of the public will not be endangered by operation of the facility as proposed.
