E. Tre: enol H. Steelm This refers to your request dated January 5,1962 for AEC authorization to make Proposed Change No. 13 in your facility pursuant to paragraph 3.A. of License No. DPR-3, as amended.
We have reviewed the proposed change and have found that a p
change in the Technical Specifications attached as Appendix "A" to License No. DPR-3 in order to provide for an alternate design of control rod absorber section does not present significant hazards con;iderations not described or implicit in the license application as amended to June 23, 1961, and that there is reasonable assurance that the health and safety of the public will not be endangered by operation of the facility as proposed. A copy of our related hazards analysis is enclosed.
In view of the foregoing, Yankee Atomic Electric Co=pany is hereby authorized to use, as an alternate design, the centrol rod absorber section as described in Yankee's letter dated January 5, 1962 entitled Proposed Change No. 13.
