Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. Ruhlman of this

office on August 14 and 15,1974 at Yankee Nuclear Power Station,

Rowe, Massachusetts of activitics authorized by AEC License No. DPR-3

and to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. Ruhl=an with Mr.

H. Autio and ether ce=bers of your staff at the conclusion of the

inspection, and to a subsequent telephone discussion between Mr.

,

St. Laurent and Mr. Ruhlman on August 19, 1974.

Areas emined during this inspection are described in the Regulatory

Operations Inspection Report which is 2nclosed with this letter.

Within thess areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations

,

of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel,

and* observations by the inspector.

During this inspection, A0 74-3, involving instrumentation setpoint

drif ting out of Technical Specification requirements, was inspected.

We have no further questions regarding this matter.

In accordance with Section 2.790' of the AEC's " Rules of Practice",

Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this

letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the

AEC's Public Document Room. If this report contains any information
