Dear Mr. Jones:

The staff has reviewed the information provided by Omaha Public Power District concerning Feedwater Line Cracks at the Fort Calhoun Station dated June 18, August 8, October 25, and November 11, 1979 and February 29, i

1980. The results of your examinations and evaluations were sumarized during the ACRS meeting on August 4,1980 wherein it was stated that:

" radiographic examinations were performed in October 1979, and during the 1980 refueling outage on the steam generator nozzle-to-safe end welds and on the safe end-to-piping welds for both the main and auxiliary feedwater lines.

In addition, the first adjacent outboard pipe-to-oipe welds on the auxiliary feedwater lines were radiographed. All examinations were per-formed in accordance with IE Bulletin 79-13. No crack-like indications or unacceptable code discontinuities were revealed. Piping suoports for the main.and auxiliary feedwater lines were inspected in accordance with IE Sulletins 79-02 and 79-14. No damage due to vibration or water hamer was observed."

4 Since no crack-like indications or other unacceptable code discontinuities were discovered during your examinations, the staff considers this issue to be resolved for your facility. Should we determine that further actions are required as a result of continuing evaluations, you will be notified.

If you have any questions on this subject, please contact your NRC Project Manager.

Sincerely,
