Dear Mr. Jones:
The NRC staff is presently reviewing long term outstanding issues on the Fort Calhoun Station in an attempt to establish priorities for those issues still under active consideration and to close out those issues which are found to no longer be of concern to safety.
By letter dated June 11, 1976, Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) submitted an application to amend the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit 1 Technical Specifi-cations concerning the Core Barrel Motion Monitoring System. This appli-cation was supplemented by letters dated September 20, 1976 and May 11, 1977.
The staff has reviewed these submittals and the generic requirements for similar systems and has concluded that there are not significant safety concerns to warrant any further action on your request. We, therefore, will consider your application to be withdrawn unless we hear from you to the contrary within thirty days of your receipt of this letter.
If you have any questions on this subject, please contact your NRC Project Manager.
