NARRATIVE REFORT Georgia Power C mpany Plant E. I. Hatch Baxley, Georgia 31513 Reportable Occurrence Report No. 30-366/1980-034
~
On March 2d,1980, while :erforming Fenwal Type 17000 and 13000 Temcerature Switch Calibration curing cold snutdcwn, Main Steam Line Tunnel Temperature Switches 2321-N010A, N013A, and N0130 were found to nave ba re:ea:acility; 2821-N0105, N0118, N0123, and N0135 exceecec tne allcwable Tech 5:ec limit (S 200cF). The "as-found" tric points were as follcws: 2321-N01C3 3 205cF, N0118 @ 205cF, N0123 9 215.SoF, and N0135 3 2190F.
The cause of this event has been attributed to instrument drift and method of calibration.
Switches 2321-N0105, N0113, 50123 and N013B were attri uted to instrument drift. They were recaliorate: anc returned to service.
Switenes 2B21-N010A, N013A and M013D were attribute: :: me: hec of calibration.
It has been hypothesi:ed th the present me hed of calibration (cven) may not have the stability to accurately set these switches. These swit:nes were replaced and recalibrated utili:ing a Fenwal Tem:erature Saiten Tes: Set anc successfully returned :: service.
"Fenwal Type 17000 and 130C0 Tercera ure Switch" pr:cedure has teen rev sed to provice for the utili:ation of a Fenwal i
Temperature Swi en Test Set.

There were no effects to public health and safety due to this event, nor was safe plant operatica effecteo.
This is a repetitive even; as last reported on Re cr:able Occurrence N:. 50-355/
