Omaha Public Power District received the Commission's letter, datad September 29, 1980, requesting that the District provide information needed to assess the impact of Fort Calhoun operations on the Missouri River aquatic biota. The District has reviewed the list of material enclosed in your subject letter and is forwarding that material, with the exceptions or qualifications as detailed below.
The list included as its first item a monograph proposed for publication with the American Fisheries Society. This monograph is as yet incomplete and the District does not believe it is appropriate to supply you with the incomplete monograph. However, once the monograph is in a reasonable state of completeness, we will initiate a request to the editors to forward you a prepublication draft of the monograph.
However, it is expected to be about eight months before this monograph is at this level of completeness.
The detailed description of Fort Calhoun's discharge structure (Item No. 3) is included in the report entitled "The Effects of En-trainment and Impingement at Fort Calhoun Station on the Fisheries of the Channelized Missouri River" (Item No. 8).
Item No.13, results of the 1977 studies on ichthyoplankton vertical distribution, are included in the report entitled " Vertical Stratification of the Larval Fish Drif t Population in the Missouri River".
The District has been unable to locate the report entitled " Missouri River Thermal Study", OPPD and USCE, September 1970.
In fact, one cf the listed authors does not believe that a formal report was ever issued. Accordingly, the District cannot supply this report.
Item No.11 was a request for the raw data and calculations used for estimating fish impingemer.t rate. The District dot: have the raw data available, and it is forwarded herewith. The calculations used for estimating fish impingement rate, as reported in the five year report, C)C)/

The caily impingement rate was then determined by multiplying the one hour sample by 24 and then multiplying by 6 to cover all six screens. The average rates represent means of the daily data.
The five year report includes a discussion of the comparison of the extrapolated daily rate compared to actual measured daily rate. This discussion indicated that the extrapolated rates were consistent with the actual daily values.
Item No.12, a report entitled "The Effects of Cooling Water Discharges from Fort Calhoun and Cooper Nuclear Stations of Fishes of the Missouri River" is not included in this package. This report was a preliminary draft and was never formally issued as a final report.
Although the District's five year report referenced the subject report for data, the District believes that tne report mishandled the data and draws inappropriate conclusions. Therefore, the District feels that this report is unacceptable for use.
If this report is still desired, since it is still a preliminary draft version, it is recommended that the Commission request it from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
Items No.15 and No.16 are available in Fort Calhoun's semi-annual environmental and monthly operating reports, respectively, which have been submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. A considerable effort would be required to duplicate this information. The District would recommend that the Commission's consultants contact the NRC's Fort Calhoun Station Project Manager for this information.
As requested in the Commission's letter, the information as dis-cussed above has been forwarded directly to the Ccmmission's consultants, Environmental Science and Engineering. The information package was quite bulky and a copy has not been forwarded to the Commission.
If the Commission does require a copy of any or all information sent, please advise.
