South Texas Project Units 1&2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Second Interim Report Concerning the Essential Cooling Water Pump Seal Water Design Deficiency On July 3,1980, pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e), Houston Lighting & Power Company notified your office of a deficiency concerning the design of the seal water injection system for the Essential Cooling Water (ECW) pumps.
An interim report on this matter was submitted to your office on August 1, 1980. This letter provides infonnation on the present status of this subject deficiency.
As provided in our first repo'rt, dated August 1,1980, alternate design solutions are currently being evaluated. A preliminary design has been developed, however a detailed review and final approval remains to be perfonned.
