Mr. R. L. Sherman Metal Systems Division Att1eboro, Massachusetts 02703 Gentlemen:

In response to your July 16, 1980 letter, Amendment No. 13 to License SNM-23 was issued on August 15, 1980. As you requested, the review of your February 15, 1979 application for renewal has been discontinued, and an extension of the license was authorized until June 30, 1982. Accompanying your February 15, 1979 application was a renewal fee of $76,800.

In accordance with Footnotes 1(c) and 4 of the enclosed 10 CFR 170, we have reviewed the manpower expenditures required for the review of the subject application for renewal and your July 16, 1980 request for license extension, and the actual cost of the reviews amounted to $11,381. We have, therefore, notified the NRC Office of the Controller to refund $65,419 to your Company.

Sincerely,
