By letters dated January 25, 1973, and May 17, 1973, you submitted a revised inservice inspection program for Dresden 1.

You have stated that the intent of the program is to implement Section XI of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code to the extent practical.

t.'e have reviewed your proposed program and find it acceptable vith the following conditions:

1.

In reference to Category E-1, the control cod drive thimbles and drain lines do not presently meet the exclusion criteria of IS-121a.

Therefore, you will be expected to inspect these thi=bles and drain.

lines as required by Section II and the AEC ECCS Interim Acceptance Criteria.

2.

Certain areas of the reactor coolant pressure boundary were deemed inaccessible because of high radiation fields. We agree that for the areas listed, the high radiation fields and the time intervals needed for inspection and for insulation removal and replacement make inspections impractical for the inspection progrc= scheduled in 1973s However, it appears that measures could be taken to low:: the radiation ficids and reduce the c::posure tine associcted
