Dear Mr. Keppler:
On May 9, 1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(c). This item, which pertains to the operation of contrifugal charging pumps during a high energy line rupture, was described in an interim report to your office on June 2, 1980.
As planned, Westinghouse analyzed this problem and has recommended that some plant modification be made. Various potential modifications are presently being evaluated by Westinghouse and the best alternative is being selected. PSI will advise your office of what action will be taken in a final report on or before November 14, 1980. If you have any questions, please feci free to contact me.
