South Texas Project Units 1&2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Second Interim Report Concerning Breakdown in Quality Program-Procurement Cycle of Purchased Materials On June 13, 1980, Houston Lighting & Power Company notified your office in accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e) of a potentially.
reportable deficiency concerning a breakdown in the quality program for the procurement cycle of purchased materials and equipment. An interim report regarding this subje.ct was provided to your office on July 14,1980 (see Correspondence ST-HL-AE-494). Currently, Brown & Root is in the prtcess of developing the procedures and the implementation schedule for performing the verification program of all vendor-related activities and records for safety-related materials and equipment. This verification program will be perforined by a Task Force consisting of HL&P and B&R personnel.
In addition, personnel from NUS Corporation have been retained to support this program. The program description, implementation schedule and procedures will be complete by late October.
A third interim report will be provided to your office describing in detail the program and implementation schedule by November 1,1980.
