.g. q 3 i-DOCKET N05. 50-277 50-278 Philadelphia Electric Company ATTN: Mr. Eugene J. Bradley Associate General Counsel 2301 Market Street P. O. Box 8699 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19101 Gentlemen:

We have received a copy of your application dated August 8,1980, which was filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (ONRR) for review.

The application proposed seismic monitoring instrumentation Technical Specifications for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Units 2 and 3, and was accompanied by amendment fees for Classes II and I ($1,600) because your Company determined t'at the changes were administrative in nature.

Based on information that has been provided by the ONRR staff, it has been deter-mined that your application is more than administrative in nature in that it requires evaluation against Regulatory Guide 1.12 to insure that your monitoring system is adequate. As such, it is considered to involve a single safety issue; therefore, requiring a Class III fee of $4,000 for one unit and a Class I fee of

$400 for the other unit.

It is requested that your Coinpany remit an additional sum of $2,800 to this office.

If the final review of your application by the ONRR staff reflects that these fees are incorrect, an adjustment will be made.

Sincerely,

,k l
