q ENCLOSURE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Your submittal of July 1, 1980, has addressed staff concerns about the salt content of the long-term auxiliary feedwater source for Salem, Units 1 and 2.

Show that the discussion presented in that submittal, assuming a 3.5 percent sodium chloride solution, is conservatively bounding for compositions with other dissolved solids. Discuss the potential for heat transfer fouling of the steam generator secondary side due to the presence of dissolved solids other than NACL which are characterized by low solubilities and decreasing solubility with increasing temperature (e.g.,

Ca, Ng, P0j, C0j, S0j).
