Longitudinal Weld Defects in ASME SA-312 Type 304 Stainless Steel
Dear Siz:
The following information is provided in accordance with your request in IE Bulletin No.79-03A.
We have reviewed all of the SA-312 and A-312 Type 304 fusion welded stainless steel pipe specified for use in safety related system for the Seabrook project, and have performed pipe wall thickness calculations using the 85% of the maximum allow-able stress criteria defined in the subject bulletin.
Results of our review indicate that we have sufficient minimum pipe wall thickness.
A telecon discussion with your Mr. L.E. Tripp was held to clarify inter-pretation of the NRC Bulletin No.79-03A, particularly as it concerns Items 1 and 3 of the bulletin.
Mr. Tripp stated that if we satisfy the requirements of Item 1, we will have satisfactorily responded to the NRC.
Please contact us if you require further information.
Very truly yours, 1
