Pursuant to 10CFR50.59(b), the following items are submitted for the Kansas State University TRIGA Mk. II Nuclear Reactor Facility, license R-88, for the period 1 October 1979 - 30 September 1980.

A. Changes in Procedures

1. Facility Procedure No. 13, " Portable Radiation Survey Meter Calibration" was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 Feb 80.

2. Facility Procedure No. 14, " Personal Pocket Dosimeter Calibration" was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 Feb 80.

3. Facility Procedure No. 5, Part 1, " Semiannual Check of Minimum Interlocks" was revised and approved by the Reactor Safeguards Conraittee on 10 Jun 80.

4. Facility Procedure No. 10, " Fuel Element Inspection" was revised and approved by the Reactor Safeguards Conmittee on 8 Feb 80.

5. Facility Procedure No. 2, " Annual Power Level Calibration" was revised and approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 5 Jun 80.

6. Facility Emergency Procedures were revised and approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 22 Jul 80.

7. Facility Procedure No. 4, " Semiannual Control Rod Drop Time Measurement" was revised and approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 Sep 80.

. B. Tests and Experiments conducted without prior Commission

. approval.

1. Facility Experiment No. 13, " Isotope Production in the Central Thimble" was revised and approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 Feb 80.

2. Facility Experiment No. 43, "Rossi Alpha Measurements" was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 10 Jun 80.

'3. Facility Experiment No. lA, " Radiation Exposure Effects" was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 8 Sep-80.

C. Changes in the Facility

1. The positions of fuel elements 5031X and 5649X were inter-changed to form core configuration II-10. on 2 Nov 79.

[No safety considerations.]

2. An electric motor drive was installed on the pulse rod shock absorber to permit its adjustment from the control console.

An electronic digital position indicator was also added to the pulse rod shock absorber to provide an indication of the pulse rod position at the control console. These chaages were accomplished on 4 Mar 80. A safety analysis, installation procedure, and performance tests were apptaved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 25 Feb 30.

3. A new Westronics strip chart recorder was installed in the control console for linear and log power indication on 13 Mar 80. The auto power controller was disabled at this same time and removed from operation. On the same date, a new solid state period circuit was installed in the control console to interface with the new strip chart recorder. A safety analysis,' installation procedures, and start-up tests were approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 24 Jan 80.

4. A new solid state, digital rod drop timer was installed in the control console on 31 Jul 80. A safety analysis and installation procedure were approved by the Reactor Safe-guards Committee on 3fJun 80.

5. A second isolation valve was installed in the distilled water makeup line in Aug 80 to eliminate any possibility of potentially contaminated water siphoning into the distilled water tank. [No safety considerations.]
