Dear Sir:
Subject:
Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-19 IE Bulletin 80-17 Supplement No. I By our letter to you dated August 15, 1980 we provided a schedule for meeting the requirements for scram discharge volume water level monitoring as requested in IE Bulletin 80-17 Supplement No.
1,. item B.I.
On September 9, 1980 Mr. Briggs of your staff telephoned me to request that we improve upon our original schedule, provide him with the new schedule on or before September 12, 1980 by telephone, and also provide the revised schedule in writing on or before September 19, 1980.
On September 12, 1980, I telephoned Mr. Briggs and provided him with our updated schedul e.
As discussed with Mr. Briggs our revised response to IE Bulletin 80-17 supplement 1, item B.1 is as follows:
1.
The ultrasonic test for detection of water in the scram discharge headers is being conducted once per 8-hour shift.
This test involves monitoring the 4-4" and the 2-6" discharge headers at a location which will be utilized by the permanent water detection system. The test is performed on a schedule which prevents subsequent tests from being any closer than 6-hours apart. The testing on this schedule will continue until the Installation and testing of the permanent monitoring system is complete.
2.
The continuous monitoring system will be installed and operational no later than December 1,1980.
This is based upon a verbal cormiitment by our supplier to have all the equipmer.?
necessary for the modification delivered to the Oyster Creek site by November 11, 1980.
