Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. transmitted (Ref. Clark /MacDonald letter dated September 4,1979) a modified NFS QA program for operations at West Valley to address the QA program requirements of 10 CFR 571.51.
Since the NRC has never accepted West Valley's operational QA program as meet-ing the applicable criteria of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50, your submittal does not satisfy the requirements of item (d) in 571.51. Accordingly, it is requested (pursuant to the third paragraph of the referenced letter) that NFS revise their application dated October 9,1978 to address the request for additional information contained in the staff's letter dated June 5,1979.
Please submit seven copies of your response within 60 days following receipt of this letter.
