This . refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. S. K. Chaudhary of this office on

March 19-21, 1980 and April 2-4, 1980 at the Limerick Generating Station, Limerick,

Pennsylvania of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. CPPR-106 and CPPR-107

and to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. Chaudhary with Mr. J. Corcoran

of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection, and to a subsequent telephone

discussion between Mr. J. Mattia and Mr. J. Corcoran on March 15, 1980.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Office of Inspection

and Enforcement Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter.

Within

these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures

and representative records, interviews with personnel, measurements made by the

inspector, and observations by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, no items of noncompliance were observed.

However, one activity appears to be a deviation from commitments described in

the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report for Limerick Generating Station Units 1

and 2.

This item involves the acceptance of D-Mixes of concrete on the basis of

different criteria than prescribed by ACI-318.

Details are in paragraph 5 of

sne enclosed Inspection Report.

Please provide this office a description of your plans for resolving this deviation,

including your schedule and measures as appropriate to prevent similar occurrences.

Your response is requested within 30 days of your receipt of this letter.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title

10, Code of. Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosures will

be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

Comission as listed in subparagraph (b) (4) of Section 2.790.

The information

sought to be withheld shall be incorporated as far as possible into a separate

part of the affidavit.

If we do not hear from you in this regard within the

specified period, the report will be placed in the Public Document Room.
