Dear Mr. Keppler:
On March 28, 1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). This item was described in more detail in an interim report to your office dated April 25, 1980 (DSN 0425804002).
As discussed in the interim report, PSI has obtained an ASME interpretation of code requirements regarding Certified Material Test Reports (CKrR's).
The ASME confirmed that for the applicable edition of the Code, weld filler material used on the spool pieces in question could be furnished with only a Certificate of Compliance and a CMTR was not required. Other questions pertaining to these Certificates of Compliance require additional surveillance of vendor facilities and this surveillance is not yet complete. PSI anticipates this surveillance will be complete and the results available on or before December 15, 1980.
