This refers to your letter dated July 29, 1980, in response to our letter dated
June 26, 1980.
Based on the results of a telephone conversation between Mr. R. Traggio of your
staff and Mr. N. Blumberg of this office conducted on September 8,1980, it is
our understanding that the QA training program referenced in your respcnse
letter will emphasize the area of detennination as to when written procedures
'
are required for the performance of maintenance; and that the increased QA
Department involvement in the' preparation of work permits, also referenced in
your response letter, will include an ' independent review as to whether or not a
written maintenance procedure is required.
Further, the QA training referenced

in your response letter will be documented.

Should our understanding stated above be in error, please notify us, in writing,
of your position within 20 days of receipt of this letter.
