! Gentlemen:-

. In response to Generic _ Letter 89-14. South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G). hereby requests revision to the Virgil C. Sumer Nuclear Station

-(VCSNS) Technical Specifications. Specifically, this proposed amendment removes the 3.25 limit on extending surveillance intervals from Technical Specification 4.0.2, " Surveillance Requirements."

This request is comprised of three enclosures. Attachment 1 contains the marked-up pages for the proposed amendment. Attachment 2 provides the required safety evaluation and Attachment 3 is the'significant hazards evaluation pursuant to 10CFR 50.91.

These changes have been reviewed and approved by the Plant Safety Review Comittee and the Nuclear Safety Review Comittee.
