Dear Mr. Keppler:
On July 17, 1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.S5(e). The support steel supplier for the Nucicar Steam Supply System, Lakeside Bridge and Steel Company, notified PSI that certain radiographs of the steam generator upper lateral support embedments did not meet the den,sity requirements of Section V of the ASME BP&V Code. As a result, acceptable radiographs of these embedments do not exist at this time and their quality is indeterminate.
PSI is in the process of having the embedments reradiographed in j
accordance with the requirements of Section V of the ASME Code. When thcsc radiographs are completed they will be reviewed to determine the quality of the embedments in question. This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e).
A final report will be submitted on_or before October 20, 1980.
