FINAL REPORT APPLICATION AND INSPECTION OF STRUCTURAL STEEL FIREPROOFING CALLAWAY PLANT UNIT 1
Reference:
Letter No. ULNRC-371, August 1, 1980 The referenced letter advised you of a potential 50.55 (e) situation regarding adequacy of application and inspection of fire proofing materials (Albi-Duraspray) applied to structural steel in safety-related buildings.
This material was applied and inspected by Mid-South Painting Specialists and also inspected by Daniel Inte national Corporation (DIC).
The application and inspection requirements for this material
. have bee'n re-emphasized to Mid-South and DIC and a re-inspection of all installed fireproofing material has been completed.
A review of the results of this re-inspection indicates that the deficiencies are of a minor nature; i.e.,
small areas of inadequate thickness, partial coverage of the edges of beam flanges, etc.
We have chosen to rework all the defective areas noted in the re-~ inspection, rather than to perform an evaluation of the deficiency.
This rework will assure that the application of fireproofing material will be in conformance with the specifications and drawings.
This letter. serves as vur final report on this subject.
