Dear Mr. Grier:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 I E Bulletin No. 80-16 The referenced I E Bulletin, Potential Use of Misdesigned Rosemount Inc.

Pressure Transmitters, refers to a letter from Rosemount Inc., dated June 6, 1980, describing a design deficiency in certain transmitters which could cause ambiguous reading in service.

Oyster Creek does not utilize Rosemount Model 1151 or 1152 transmitters with an output code of "A" cr "D" in any application.

There are no current plans for their use.

Oyster Creek Quality Assurance, Oyster Creek Material Management and Gereration Engineering will be advised by copies of this memo not to purchase, accept shipment or install at Oyster Creek any Rosemount Model 1151 or 1152 transmitters with an output code of "A" or "D".

Rosemount Engineering has been contacted and it was stated in a telephone conversation that the Rosemount Model 1151 transmitter with an output code of "B" or "E" has a revised output circuit and is not affected by this Bulletin.

Oyster Creek has installed Rosemount Model 1151 transmitters with an output code of "B" or "E" at the following places:

j 1)

Drywell Sump Unidentified Leak Rate l

2)

Torus Level l

3)

4 Mro Boyce H. Grier, Director July 24,1980 There is one operational spare Rosemount Model ll52DP4A22D in stock.

The Purchasing Department has been instructed to return the affected unit and replace it with a unit which is not affected by the Rosemount memo.

Since there are no affected units installed at Oyster Creek, and since no such units will be used in the future, there is no further corrective action or investigation necessary at this time.

l The cumulative manpower (supervision and engineering) required to investigate the use and model numbers of these devices totalled 30 man hours.

There will be no corrective man hours expended except for the return and replacement activities for the operational spare unit in our storeroom.
