The Commission has i: sued the en] closed Amendment No. 8 to Facility License No. R-95 for the Rhode Island Nu'elear Science Center reactor. The amendment consists 9f cht.nges to the Techpical Specifications in response to your request dated September 5,1979.
The amendment permits tne use of uranium aluminide (UAi ) or uranium oxide x
(U308) fuel elements in addition to the currently licensed uranium-aluminum alloy elements. A limit on fission density, along with a minimum frequency for calculating fission density, is also being added to the technical specifications.
A copy of the Safety Evaluation for this action is also enc,losed.
