1.
For the Grand Gulf plant, the use of 10 peak OBE stress cycles in ASME Class 1 fatigue calculations is acceptable.
2.
With respect to whether or not the combined OBE plus SRV stresses should be considered in ASME Class 1 fatigue calculations, we are awaiting the information from GE regarding their OBE and SRV analyses as' agreed upon during our Grand Gulf SER meeting, July 8-10, 1980.
3.
With respect to the GE double sum method for combining closely spaced modes, our decision will be consistent with that reached for Susquehanna.
Therefore, we request that you provide the modal frequencies (0-60hz) for piping analyzed by GE. Furthermore, we have determined that the GE double sum method was approved for GESSAR 251 under the condition that the calculated results would never be lower than those obtained using the SRSS combination method. Please verify that GE performed such an SRSS comparison for its Grand Gulf piping. This iten was discussed extensively with GE (Rudi Villa) during the Susquehanna draft SER meeting, July 15, 1980.
