Subject:

Crystal River Unit #3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License #DPR-72

Dear Mr. Snaider:

Florida Power Corporation provided coments in a comunication to you dated July 3,1980 concerning Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut's letter of May 19, 1980,

- requesting review comments on NUREG-0577. The purpose of this letter is to provide additional information in accordance with your provisions to extend the comment period to August 8,1980.

The Electric Power Research Institute issued a position paper describing an alternate approach for demonstrating the adequacy of nuclear support structures, dated July 22, 1980. We respectfully request your serious consideration be given to permitting licensees of operating plants to use the alternate approach described in the EPRI paper which we support.

Your consideration in this matter is appreciated.

Sincerely, l

FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION l 9 YF ^ ^-
