Appendix.A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Commonwealth Edison Company Docket No. 50-010/80-11 Docket No. 50-237/80-11 Docket No. 50-249/80-15 Based on the inspection conducted on April 28, 1980, it appears that certain of your activities were in noncompliance with NRC requirements, as noted below.
This item is a deficiency.
As required by 10 CFR 71.5, shipments of licensed radioactive materials must comply with the requirements of the Department of Transportation, 49 CFR 170-189.
49 CFR 173.392(c)(1) requires that low specific activity (LSA) materials be packaged in strong, tight packages.
Contrary to the above, one drum of LSA waste was discovered upon arrival at the Nuclear Engineering Company, Richland, Washington, to have a defective closure so that the lid was not securely attached to the drum.
