Dear Mr. Seidle:

The referenced report concerning concrete block walls in the Control Building at Wolf Creek was previously submitted to your office pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e). A description of the deficiency, an analysis of the safety implications and details of the initial corrective actions proposed or taken were included in the Interim Report.

l This letter further updates O e status of actions completed and new being taken in regard to the concrete block walls. All affected walls as identified in Nonconformance Report 1NN-1536-C have been removed )

with the exception of the main east-west wall and its connecting duct chase located on column line C-5 at elevation 1984'-0, the main east-west wall and its connecting duct chase located adjacent to column line C-5 at elevation 2000'-0, and the duct chase located on column line C-5 at elevation 2032'-0. Bechtel has analyzed the three walls and has determined that their replacement is not necessary, provided additional stiffners are added. Design of these ad4hiotal stiffners was completed in late June,1980, and their insta'J a. ion is proceeding.

Completion of the installation of the additJ;n,1 9, fners and recon-struction of the removed concrete block wallb is c 4.ently scheduled for October 1,1980. At that time a final report will be prepared and submitted; or, if further work remains, an update on the p c gram will be made. In the interim, please advise if you need additional information. l l
