Dear Mr. Keppler:
j On June 23, 1980 Commonwealth Edison Company reported by phone to NRC Region III headquarters that the item reported in Reference (a) was applicable to the Byron and Braidwood Stations and was a 10 CFR 50.55(e) reportable item.
The following report resolves that item and also fulfills the reporting requirements under the Regulation.
In Reference (a), Westinghouse recommended a wiring change as an interim solution to this problem.
Byron and Braidwood Stations are not going to implement this interim fix unless no permanent solution is available prior to fuel load.
Commonwealth Edison will continue to monitor Westinghouse's efforts in this regard and will implement a permanent change as necessary upon review of Westinghouse's recommendations.
