NARRATIVE

REPORT Georgia Power Company Plant E.

I.

Hatch Baxley, Georgia 31513 Reportable Occurrence Report No.50-366/1980-098.

While operations were performing HPCI Pump Operability Procedure, HNP-2-3303,-

HPCI Pump Suction Pressure Indication, 2E41-R606, was discovered to be in-dicating low and operations shut down the HPCI system. This occurred while the reactor was at 99% steady state in power.

The operation of the plant was not affected and there was no affect on the environs.

This is a non-repetitive event.

RCIC, ADS, LPCI mode of RHR and CSS were operable.

The cause of the event has been attributed to HPCI Pump Suction Pressure Transmitter, 2E41-N019, having drifted out of tolerance causing 2E41-R606 to indicate incorrectly.

Upon discovery, the transmitter was recalibrated and returned to service.

This is not a generic problem.
